Giovanni Manfredini was born in Pavullo nel Frignano, in the province of Modena, in 1963. He has held solo exhibitions in Madrid, Naples, Milan, Rome, Berlin, Basel, Bern, London, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and participated in numerous group exhibitions, both private and institutional, as well as the 54th Venice Biennale, MoMA PS1 (New York), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), SMAK (Ghent), Kaiserdome (Frankfurt), Kunstmuseum Bonn (Germany), Fukuyama Museum of Art (Japan), Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Bologna (Italy) and MART di Trento e Rovereto (Italy).
His works were exhibited alongside those of Caravaggio in the Cerasi Chapel in Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome during the 56th Venice Biennale. He also presented Stabat Mater Dolorosa at the Giorgio Cini Foundation (Island of San Giorgio Maggiore) with the soundtrack created for the work by Ennio Morricone. He currently lives and works in Pavullo nel Frignano (MO).
